News from the Pantry
There is always a lot of activity during the week at our pantry where we serve those most in need. On Wednesdays we pick up food from the Food Bank of Manatee, deliver it to our church grounds, and then sort it into boxes making sure that each box contains a variety of nutritious foodstuffs, including breads, vegetables, protein, etc. On Thursday mornings over 100 boxes are distributed to the homeless and those having financial difficulties. And, of course, all of this includes God’s Grace and the Word as we strive to fill not only the emptiness of their stomachs, but the void that many feel within their souls.
During the Sunday service on January 6th, Lon and Jay mentioned that there are all sorts of ways that members can make a difference in our various outreach programs. The food pantry that provides over one ton of commodities each week is one of those ways. whether it is helping to unload the truck, stock the shelves, move boxes from shelves to distribution tables, or transporting food to vehicles, there is always something that can be done.
Please consider giving a bit of your time for this worthy cause.
